Welcome to Better Jobs Better Care - Pennsylvania
"Who will care for us?" baby boomers ask. Better Jobs Better Care - Pennsylvania (BJBC-PA) was created to answer that question. After family, it is the direct care worker - nursing assistant, home health aide, personal care assistant - that cares for us. And they are in short supply. BJBC-PA demonstrated ways to have a stable, well-trained direct care workforce by focusing on:
- Supportive Workplaces - partnered with 27 employers to test methods to make workplaces more supportive for its direct care workers.
- Training for New Workers - to give person-centered care that is rewarding for both the consumer and the worker.
- Empowering Direct Care Workers - to take the lead in advancing their profession.
BJBC-PA is a program of CARIE (Center for Adovcacy for Rights and Interests of the Elderly). BJBC-PA launched the Pennsylvania Direct Care Workers Association with the goal that this worker association grow to function independently.
