Better Jobs Better Care - PA (BJBC-PA) is part of the national BJBC initiative to demonstrate ways to improve recruitment and retention of the direct care workforce. The 5 statewide BJBC projects are being evaluated by Penn State University, with initial results expected in 2007. National BJBC also funds 8 research demonstration projects, and these results will be presented at BJBC's national meeting in June 2006.

BJBC-PA compiles research publications to advance the direct care workforce in long-term care. It looks for survey research that accurately describes the direct care population. Evaluation research is particularly useful because provides evidence of the effectiveness of interventions to improve the workforce. BJBC-PA encourages and works with researchers in the state to undertake studies grounded in the voice of direct care workers.
